JLPT N5
notes on preparing for and taking the JLPT N5.
To kickstart my journey of learning Japanese, I decided to challenge myself by taking the JLPT N5. I registered for the test back in July, which gave me about six months to prepare. The exam took place at the University of Leicester, UK.
For my preparation, I relied on a few resources. Here’s some of the books I used.

Additionally, I practiced regularly with Anki for spaced repetition and used Benkyo to study new Kanji.
The results won’t be out until March, but I found the test overall quite challenging! I felt more confident with the first section on grammar and Kanji, but the listening part was definitely tough. Despite that, it was a valuable experience. Regardless of whether I pass, I’m determined to keep learning and use this as a guide to identify the areas where I need to focus more effort!
